Esther Wins Cross Country.

The training has paid off. On Thursday 23rd August, Braeside Primary School conducted its Cross Country event.

In a line up of 13 fit 12 year olds, Esther stood excited and a little nervous, but keen to get underway. With tactics worked out, she took off at a blistering pace, and at the 500m mark, was already 50m infront.

I was worried she might burn herself out early, but she was giving it her all. At 750m (half way) Esther had opened up a commanding lead. By the time she made it to the 1k mark, Esther was 130m in front and looking fresh.
With as much encouragement as Dad could muster up, Esther picked up the pace and made a dash for home. Her competition were not even in sight as she crossed the finish line to the cheers of her team mates in Mallee.

Later, Esther told me... "I cant believe I won. I just decided to run as hard as I could for the first half and open up as much lead as I could. It worked Dad"

Well done Esther, We are SO proud of you.
